Pig History
History of the Flying Pig orienteering event before 2006

The Farsta
One day of the Pig is traditionally a Farsta format event.  You can think of a Farsta as a one-person relay.  This is a mass start event and you will run 2 or 3 loops, passing through the start area and exchanging maps after each loop.  But, the course is designed with a forking system.  After you have completed all loops, you will have done all of the same legs as every other competitor on your course.  But, you will have done them in a different sequence from most other competitors.  You will visit some of the same controls on each loop.  This means you frequently see other competitors but generally can not know for sure if they are going the same place at the same time as you.  You get the excitement of head-to-head competition, but still the challenge of individual navigation.
