Orienteering Cincinnati Events

Public is welcome at all events, unless specifically noted in the announcement. Beginners are always welcome and basic instruction is offered at no charge. OCIN Events are held rain, shine or snow. In the event of severe storm or snow emergency, check this site on the morning of event.

    courses from white to red. indoor event center and restrooms. Start times 11 am to 1 pm. Mt Airy Forest, Oak Ridge Lodge, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Fri, Mar 9, 2018     Lakota West HS, West Chester, OH
    PI Day at Lakota West HS, 6:30 pm - 9 pm. (Starts open 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm) Many different organizations will offer various interactive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) activities. OCIN (in cooperation with MetroParks of Butler County) will offer both indoor and outdoor orienteering courses. Bring a flashlight. Outdoor course will be white/yellow level.

Saturday, March 24, 2018     OCIN Easter Egg Orienteering - Governor Bebb
    in coperation with MetroParks of Butler County. Kids Easter Egg course will be a short, easy "white" level course; kids can collect plastic Easter eggs which can be exchanged for candy or a toy when they finish. More challenging courses will be available for older children and adults.
    Special rate of $4 per child for Easter Egg Course. Normal OCIN event fees for other courses: $7 for members, $10 for non-members, $2 discount if you own your own SI card, free for TROL and WARS season pass holders.

    6, 12 or 24 hour navigation race in the hills of southern Indiana, details to be announced. Full moon for this event!

April 6-8, 2018     OCIN Flying Pig XXII, Hamilton, Ohio
    National events at Pyramid Hill (Friday), Elk Creek - Meadow Ridge (Saturday), Voice of America (Sunday). Events will feature the Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park near Hamilton and the former Weatherwax Golf Course, now part of Elk Creek Park near Middletown.
    Preliminary event information is now available. Online pre-registration coming soon.
   

April 21-22, 2018    West Point National Meet
    Date tentative - The annual West Point "Invitational" weekend in rugged terrain near the U.S. Military Academy, New York. (USMA)

    National "A" meet, U.S. Interscholastic Championships / Junior Nationals - Mt. Tom, Massachusetts, hosted by New England Orienteering Club (NEOC)

    Location and Date is tentative. Very easy white level course. Kids can collect tokens at each control, which can be exchanged for a bag of candy at the finish. In cooperation with MetroParks of Butler County

Sat, Nov 3, 2018     OCIN - Camp Butterworth
    Full range of courses from white to red. Start times 11 am - 1 pm. Normal OCIN event fees: $7 for members, $10 for non-members, $2 discount if you own your own SI card, free for TROL and WARS season pass holders.

    Locator Map. Directions: From I-275, take I-71 north for 6.2 miles, and take exit 24 to Western Row Rd. Turn right on Western Row Rd for 1.3 miles. Turn left on Socialville-Foster Rd for 1 mile. Turn left on Old 3C highway for less than 0.1 mile, then turn right to stay on old 3C highway for 0.1 mile. Turn right on Foster-Maineville Rd for 0.3 mile, then right on Butterworth Rd for 0.5 mile and watch for the camp entrance on the right.

Nov 2-4, 2018     OCIN TROL girl scout training weekend
    Camp Butterworth. Weekend of training activities for youth, primarily girls. This will include a regular OCIN meet on Saturday, with courses from white to red. Contact Vicki Huseman for registration details
   

March 29-31 or April 5-7, 2019     OCIN Flying Pig XXIII

2020   North American Orienteering Championships, USA
    open to all, the North American Championship is held every 2 years, alternating between USA and Canada.
