Orienteering Cincinnati Events

Public is welcome at all events, unless specifically noted in the announcement. Beginners are always welcome and basic instruction is offered at no charge. OCIN Events are held rain, shine, or snow. In the event of severe storm or snow emergency, check this site on the morning of event.

November, 2025 thru March, 2026     OCIN TROL and WARS Season Pass
    Season passes give FREE entry to all league events from November 2025 thru March 2026, plus pre-season events in October!
    TROL (Tristate Regional Orienteering League) pass is for students in grade 12 and younger. Students (including home school) should purchase a TROL pass even if they plan to run adult level WARS courses. The TROL season pass includes a year of membership in OCIN and OUSA. Register now for your 2025-2026 TROL season pass (students in high school or younger)
    WARS (Winter Adventure Running Series) is for adults who are above high school age. Event rankings are based on age. You may also purchase or renew an OCIN annual membership with your WARS pass. Register now for your 2025-2026 WARS season pass (adults above HS age)
    When you register, if you have an Orienteering USA account, the registration system will auto-fill your personal information; if not, select "enter data manually".

Sat Dec 13, 2025     TROL / WARS Series #5 - ICO at Story West, Story, IN
    This will use the area from the cancelled day of 2025 Flying Pig. For more information, visit the ICO website
    This will be a one day National Ranking Event (NRE). Although it is a little farther from Cincinnati, because this is a National Ranking Event, we will make this the TROL/WARS event for this weekend.
    This event is included in our 2025-26 TROL/WARS season pass, so entry price is REDUCED if you purchase a TROL season pass (HS student or younger) or WARS season pass (adult above high school age).
    Because this event is a National Ranking Event, with additional expenses, it will NOT be completely free for WARS pass holders. TROL and WARS pass holders will get a $10 discount off of the event entry fees when they enter. TROL passholders only, if there is still a balance (possibly $2 to $6) when you finish registering, choose the button to "exit" without paying, and OCIN will pay the remainder. WARS passholders should pay whatever remains after the $10 pass holder discount.
    Pre-registration is required even if you have a TROL or WARS season pass. Please help us by pre-registering early. Because this is a National Event, Registration closes on Dec 7.   See who's registered
   

Sat, Dec 20, 2025     TROL / WARS Series #6, Hartig Park, KY
    Adventure with a map! New map in Northern Kentucky. Participants get a detailed map and try to locate a series of control points shown on the map. Suitable for all ages, you may compete for the fastest time, or just enjoy a leisurely hike, while using our map to explore the park. There will be six different courses of varying difficulty and length - there is one suitable for every adventurer.
    Courses: white thru red; Start times 11 to 1. We will plan to start control removal at 3.
    This event is included in our 2025-26 TROL/WARS season pass, so entry is FREE if you purchase a TROL season pass (HS student or younger) or WARS season pass (adult above high school age).
    Pre-registration is required even if you have a TROL or WARS season pass. Please help us by pre-registering early. Registration closes at 9 pm. on Friday, Dec. 19.   See who's registered

Jan, 2026     Georgia Navigator Cup, Chattahoochee Bend State Park, GA
    pre-registration required. Details coming soon. Normal format is: Friday Middle Distance Race. 2-stage Classic Distance races on Sat and Sun (full range of courses). The annual Mal Harding Extreme-O on MLK Monday.

March 20-22, 2026     US Individual Nationals, Maryland
    pre-registration required. Event Website.

April 10-12, 2026     OCIN Flying Pig XXVIII, OUSA 2026 Junior Nationals
    . All three races are NRE sanctioned.
    Friday April 10 - Afternoon Middle Distance NRE (National Ranking Event) at Hueston Woods State Park, Oxford, Ohio
    Saturday - Sunday, April 11-12 - - OUSA Junior Nationals - Two-Day Classic at Mounds State Recreation Area, Brookville, Indiana
    Early lodging information and room blocks will be posted soon. Spring weekends in the college town of Oxford, Ohio will be busy. The good news is two new hotels are opening soon in Oxford (Fairfield Inn opens this August, Holiday Inn Express is supposed to open before the Pig)
    Embargo At this time, all parts of Mounds State Recreation Area are embargoed for orienteering events and training, except you may use the campground and beach. You may drive the paved park roads to access the campgrounds, beach and boat ramps.
    Embargo At this time, all parts of Hueston Woods State Park are embargoed for orienteering events and training, except you may use the campground, golf course, marina, beach, lodge, and cabins. You may drive the paved park roads to access the non-embargoed facilities. Please note that the mountain bike, equestrian, and disc golf facilities are embargoed and may not be used prior to the event on April 10.
   

May 31-June 5, 2026     Texas Junior Orienteering Camp, Bridgeport, Texas
    Week-long adventure of orienteering courses, training, competitions and fun, for high school and younger students who are successfully completing orienteering courses at yellow level and above. Selective admission.
   

July 19-26, 2026     Silva O' Camp, Vidnava, Czech Republic
    International orienteering training camp for youth 17 and under.
