Orienteering Cincinnati Events

Public is welcome at all events, unless specifically noted in the announcement. Beginners are always welcome and basic instruction is offered at no charge. OCIN Events are held rain, shine, or snow. In the event of severe storm or snow emergency, check this site on the morning of event.

Sat, April 26, 2025     Camp Libbey, Defiance, Ohio
    Starts will be open from 11 to 1, white through red courses. This is a rare chance to visit this private camp on the south bank of the Maumee River. Online pre-registration coming soon. There will also be a special program for Girl Scouts. Scouts should go to the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio Calendar to register for the Adventuring With Maps Girl Scout program (Junior, Cadette, Senior, Ambassador, and Adult).
    Please pre-register if possible, and to guarantee a map for your preferred course. Pre-registration on Event Reg is open. Note, there is a SMOC Meet (Southern Michigan Orienteering Club) on Sunday. Make it a weekend!

    Queen City Adventure Running Series (QCARS) is a series of short summer orienteering events, featuring 2 short, fast, and fun courses more open park land and campus areas. Season pass (includes all QCARS events, plus bonus events) is just $30 for OCIN members and $45 for non-members! Entry to individual QCARS events is $10 for members, $15 for non-members. Your best 3 QCARS events count for season awards.
    The season will have 6 to 7 events in June through August. Your best 3 races count for season awards. Season Pass link opening soon.

Monday (Memorial Day), May 26, 2025     Liberty Quest V, Liberty, IN
    Urban Score-style course through the town of Liberty.   Find as many control points as you can in any order.   At each control point, you will find the answer to a history or trivia question to record on your score-card.   You get points for each correct answer.   But you will rapidly lose points if you go over the 3 hour time limit, so it is better to get back ON TIME even if you haven't found every point.

June 1-6, 2025     Texas Junior Orienteering Camp, Bridgeport, Texas
    Week-long adventure of orienteering courses, training, competitions and fun, for high school and younger students who are successfully completing orienteering courses at yellow level and above. Selective admission, registration form coming in spring.
   

Tuesday, June 10, 2025     Tech-Free Tuesday at Armco Park
    This event is in partnership with Warren County Parks. Tech Free Tuesday is a weekly Warren County Parks Summer Program for kids; on June 10, OCIN will be doing orienteering! times to be announced Courses to be announced.
    Adventure with a map! Participants get a detailed map and try to locate a series of control points shown on the map. Suitable for all ages, you may compete for the fastest time, or just enjoy a leisurely hike, while using our map to explore the park.
    You may do multiple courses at no additional charge. No pre-registration is needed.

    Wild Wednesday!. This event is in partnership with MetroParks of Butler County. Starts 10 am to Noon White (beginner) and Yellow (intermediate) Courses.
    Adventure with a map! Participants get a detailed map and try to locate a series of control points shown on the map. Suitable for all ages, you may compete for the fastest time, or just enjoy a leisurely hike, while using our map to explore the park.
    $5 per person. You may do multiple courses at no additional charge. No pre-registration is needed. Just show up between 10 am and Noon. Please note that we can only accept cash or check on site.

Saturday, Sept 13, 2025     Mt Airy Trail Fest, Cincinnati, OH
    TENTATIVE Range of courses, details to be announced. Trail Fest features exhibits and activtities from many outdoor-related groups. In cooperation with Cincinnati Parks.
   

late October, 2025     MetroParks of Butler County
    Adventure with a map! Participants get a detailed map and try to locate a series of control points shown on the map. Suitable for all ages, you may compete for the fastest time, or just enjoy a leisurely hike, while using our map to explore the park. There will be five different courses of varying difficulty and length - there is one suitable for every adventurer.
    The easy course, Trail of Treats, is designed for young children, and upon finishing the course, children get to select a toy, book, or pack of candy to take home. The Trail of Treats costs $4 per child with a $10 family maximum; adults may accompany young children at no charge. Costumes are encouraged, but expect to possibly get dirty, especially if it is a wet day.
    Older children and adults may also choose to try one of the more difficult courses; the fee is $10 per person. You may do multiple courses at no additional charge.

    TENTATIVE - Full range of courses from white thru red, for all ages. This event will include a special competition for JROTC cadets. (Co-sponsored by Live Oaks JROTC). Starts are open from 10 am to 1 pm. Control pickup begins at 3 pm.
