Orienteering Training Camp
The Saturday after Thanksgiving a one day intense training program is offered. This consists of a mix of class-room

8:15 - Arrive - Registration - pick up materials - Donuts, Hot
Chocolate, Coffee 8:30 - Introduce teachers and students () 8:45 - Beginner Introduction to Orienteering & Maps (PAT) (What is O', Orient your map, map scale) 9:15 - Beginner (white) course - outside activity (MIKE) 10:00 - Beginner course review / debriefing (MATTHEW) 10:15 - Basic skills - aiming off, handrails, collecting and catching features, attack points (PAT) 11:00 - Intermediate (yellow) course - outside activity (MIKE) 11:45 - Intermediate course review / debriefing (MATTHEW) 12:00 - Basic compass skills (PAT) 12:15 - Outside compass activity (MIKE) 12:30 - Lunch - Sandwiches, drinks, fruit, snacks 1:00 - Intermediate Orienteering Skills - contours (PAT) 1:45 - Distance estimation, measurement and pacing (MIKE) 2:00 - Outside pace count activity (MIKE) 2:30 - Orienteering on campus areas (MATTHEW) 2:45 - Campus micro-sprint - outside activity (MIKE) 3:15 - Campus sprint review and debrief (MATTHEW) 3:30 - Systems of Orienteering (MIKE) 4:00 - Difficult (orange) course - outside activity 4:45 - Difficult course review and debrief (MATTHEW) 5:00 - Advanced strategies and skills (PAT) 5:45 - Making maps (MATTHEW or VLADIMIR) or Junior National Team (DYLAN P, NOA, JASPER?) 6:00 - Dinner - Pizza / Social 6:45 - Clean up classroom / pack up 7:00 - Leave

Juniors (High school and younger) $15
Adults $25
TROL season pass holders - free
Fee includes all course material, maps, lodge rental, and food.

The camp is designed to bring a junior orienteer's knowledge up to a level of understanding that will
encourage and compliment further practice and development beyond their current skill set.
Adults are welcome to attend, participate, and assist. Adult attendees should expect that the main focus will be on the youth and may be asked to help with administrative tasks as needed.
